Attack v Organised Defence — Conditioned Game
40m × 30m pitch. Teams take turns in attack and defence. Defenders must call defensive communication throughout. Attackers may use plays from Week 5. Full medium contact available.
Key coaching cues
FREEZE on defence: “What did you call? Did the line hear you?”
FREEZE on attack: “What did you see? Was the line flat? Where was the gap?”
Look for: defenders contesting at the breakdown legally (gate, low body). Praise when seen.
Active
Full game. Maximum involvement.
Purposeful
Pressure and Contest Possession in game context. Both attack and defence applying session skills.
Enjoyable
Competitive. Bonus points reward team effort.
Safe
Full contact available but controlled. Gate discipline at breakdown reinforced.
Organisation
- INTRODUCE (7 mins): 4v4 touch. Defenders must call PUSH/HOLD/DRIFT each phase or give away a penalty.
- DEVELOP (7 mins): Full medium contact. Defensive calling continues. Attack uses Week 5 plays. Defenders contest the ball at the breakdown.
- Bonus point for every 3 consecutive phases where defensive communication is clearly heard.
